Crash Box & Classic Car Club  Safeguarding Policy

Events

Events that are organised by the Club tend to consist of static displays, car runs or social events such as Club Nights.
Club organisers must consider the likelihood of children or vulnerable adults being present and must consider the need for additional procedures at larger or new events e.g. lost children at the Historic Vehicle Gathering or similar events.

Under most circumstances in the Club, children and vulnerable adults will be under the supervision and care of the parents or carers. However, there may be some circumstances where this is not the case. Wherever possible, it is strongly recommended that the child / vulnerable adult remains in the sight of other people and is not alone with an individual member (one possible exception being when they are part of the same family unit).

As a general rule, Club members should always be in sight of others when children or vulnerable adults are present and not be alone with a child or vulnerable adult – i.e. ensure a parent, carer or other responsible adult is present. As a result, activities like giving rides to children or vulnerable adults in Club member’s cars when no other responsible adult is present, must be avoided. This helps protect the vulnerable, and  the  Club as well as any member, however well intentioned.

Reporting Concerns

Indicators of abuse should always be taken seriously and any concerns should be reported:

A written report should be produced whenever a safeguarding concern is raised and submitted to the Club’s Safeguarding Officer who will keep a record of all such reports.
